Dr. Ettore Morosini receives the Gustavo Sclocchi Prize for Best PhD Thesis of the Year

Ettore Morosini, who earned his PhD with honors at the Politecnico di Milano (PhD program in Energy and Nuclear Science and Technology – STEN), was awarded the prestigious Gustavo Sclocchi Prize for Best PhD Thesis of the Year, along with seven other candidates.

Specifically, the recognition was granted to him in the “Energy/Industrial” subcategory for his doctoral thesis titled “Development of Innovative Transcritical Power Cycles Working with CO2 Mixtures for Concentrated Solar Power Applications” (advisor: Prof. Giampaolo Manzolini). The thesis falls within the scope of research aimed at finding innovative solutions to improve the efficiency of existing energy systems that utilize renewable sources, such as Concentrated Solar Power, making a significant contribution to the advancement of sustainable energy technologies.

The Sclocchi Prize, now in its 31st edition, is promoted by the SPE Italian Section (Society of Petroleum Engineers), Assorisorse (the Italian Association for the Sustainable Resource Industry), and EAGE (European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers).

Ettore Morosini stated, “The Sclocchi Prize is considered a prestigious recognition within the Italian scientific community. I am therefore extremely honored, as the work carried out at the Department of Energy at the Politecnico di Milano within the framework of European H2020 projects has been acknowledged and rewarded for its value. My goal is to continue developing innovative solutions to address global energy challenges, contributing to the transition towards a more sustainable future.”
