PhD Defense and Graduation – Francesco Battistella

On Friday, May 16th, Francesco Battistella defended his Doctoral Thesis in front of an international Committee and was awarded a PhD in Energy and Nuclear Science and Technology, in conclusion of his PhD Programme at Politecnico di Milano.

His work focused on catalytic hydrogen combustion as a technology for zero-emission heat production. A catalytic combustor was analyzed numerically and experimentally, identifying the optimal operating condition in terms of rapid ignition and nearly complete fuel conversion. Furthermore, a prototype of a residential water heater based on this technology was built in the laboratory to demonstrate the potential of the technology.

Congratulations!
