Prof. Macchi on the radio about “Sun in a Box”

Prof. Ennio Macchi – emeritus professor at Politecnico di Milano and founder of GECOS – was interviewed at the radio show SmartCity – Radio 24 to discuss about a recent research outcome on energy storage developed at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology – Boston, USA). Called “Sun in a Box”, the proposed thermo-photovoltaic system combines a high-temperature fluid (liquid-state Si at 1900-2400°C) with multi-junction photovoltaic cells. The research foresees high efficiencies, above 50%.
